Join Us on Moore Square at 12:15 PM each Sunday

WHO WE ARE
No judgement — just Jesus. The Son of God still speaks to us through His Holy Spirit. At Christ’s Church at Moore Square we listen to the Holy Spirit’s voice and we listen those we meet who are in need. We respond to His prompting by hearing, giving, and praying for those who congregate in Moore Square and at the bus station.
We take Jesus at his word: “Whatever you do for one of the least, you do for me.”
Those who fear the Lord freely scattered their gifts to the poor (Psalm 112:9).
Give what you have decided in your heart to give, for God is able to bless you abundantly, so that you will abound in every good work. ‘They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.’ (2 Corinthians 9:6-10)”
“Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The Spirit of the Lord anointed me to bring good news to the poor. Now go and do the same. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free. You go also and do the same. When you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” – Jesus

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to offer the good news of Jesus and BE THIS GOOD NEWS to our neighbor.
Follow. Learn. Obey. Receive.
We believe God intends that none should remain homeless, for He provides food, shelter, and garments for all. “If God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and gone tomorrow, how much more will he clothe you (Matthew 6:30)?” Often His provision is placed in the hands of His followers — those who believe in Jesus as their savior. “To whom much is given, much will be required (Luke 12:48).”
We believe that Jesus meant for us to do for others what He did for all who came to Him: feed, care for, comfort, heal, help, hold, teach, and disciple. He did not leave us as orphans. We have His Spirit! Many times we also have abundance which can be used to shelter and care for others. Jesus says, “Lend to others without expecting to get anything back. Give to everyone who asks. Do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. My Father is kind to the ungrateful. My Father is kind to the wicked. Therefore, be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”
If you sense God calling you to love, offer grace, mercy, and His truth to the least, poor, and outcast, then join us each Sunday in Moore Square as we hand out food, water, chips, and pray with our Moore Square neighbors.
Feed, Clothe, Shelter a Neighbor

OUR HISTORY
On Sunday, November 21, 2021, North Raleigh United Methodist Church celebrated its 50th anniversary (one year late due to COVID). At the conclusion of the event 40 box lunches remained. Charter member Eddie Jones offered to drop he remaining lunches off at a homeless camp near Capital Boulevard.
When he arrived he found the camp cleaned out. Prompted by the Holy Spirit Eddie drove into downtown Raleigh, parked next to Moore Square, and opened the trunk of his car. Two men approached asking if they could help unload the lunches. Five minutes later Eddie was on his way home.
“Was that hard?” Jesus asked. Eddie admitted it was not. “Think you could do that again next week?” Eddie supposed he could.
Thus began a weekly time of worship outside the walls of “church,” ministering to people the way Jesus did when he walked among us. We call this “participation worship” — a form of gathering where everyone is engaged, heard, seen, and valued as a person made in the image of God.
Each Monday night from 7:15 to 8:30 PM we hold a Jesus study at the picnic tables in front of Square Burger. All are welcomed.
There is no paid staff at Christ’s Church at Moore Square, only volunteers responding to the nudge of His Spirit. 100% of all donations go to purchase food, new clothing, and when possible, provide shelter for those sleeping outside.
Thanks to the generous contributions of individuals moved by God’s Spirit to be Jesus to others, in 2023 we have invested over $7,000 in those living in and around Moore Square, Raleigh, NC.
Our Moore Square friends have received coats, shirts, shoes, pants, socks, long johns, underwear, sleeping bags, tarps, tents, gloves, boots, blankets, and backpacks. We have helped cover rent payments and provided bus tickets. We have served over 1500 Sunday snack meals (sandwiches, chips, candy, water). All are welcome to join us and share in the joy of serving and helping those in need. (Look for a “Team Jesus” shirt.)
Christ’s Church at Moore Square is based on the first-century New Testament church where believers help brothers, sisters, and neighbors outside the framework of an established religious institution. This allows us to move quickly on the needs of others.
If you want to worship with some of us, we meet in Vintage Church at Moore Square, at 11 AM on Sundays: right side near the front. We’d love to sit with you! Others of Christ’s Church are members of other churches in the area. Some come from out of town on Sundays to be with us. We’re an eclectic group that loves Jesus and loves our neighbors.
